Oleg Blokhin will be hoping desperately that his captain can recover in time to face England and extend his international career by at least one more game by leading them to three points and a place in the quarter-final. Shevchenko is responsible for giving Ukraine a chance going into the final group fixture, brilliantly bagging two goals against Sweden, and he will need to dig even deeper into his energy reserves in order to topple England.

However, he must not become arrogant or selfish with the ball, as that will only bring the whole team performance down, and turn and already overwhelmingly unfavourable crowd even more against him.

France will be looking to win this game without too much trouble. However, it is easy to forget that it's Ukraine that currently top Group D.
