Match Schedule: June 18, 2012 7:45 PM BST
PGE Arena Gdańsk — Gdańsk
Referee:‬ W. Stark‎‎‎‎
Vicente del Bosque: "We are a very strong team but football can always spring surprises. You saw that in the semi-finals of the Champions League this season while at these finals I thought Poland and Russia would go through but that didn't come to pass. Anything can happen, we must be aware of that and of the fact that being overconfident in this sport can make things very tricky. If we are not alert we will be punished, I have no doubt about that." (Yahoo)
Croatia's key player: Mario Mandzukic. The Wolfsburg striker has been the man with the golden touch for his country at Euro 2012 thus far having claimed three goals in two matches. With Croatia likely to find chances at a premium against Spain, he will have to continue his high conversion rate if the 2008 quarter-finalists are to reach that stage again.

Spain's Player to Watch: Xavi Hernandez. The veteran's performance versus Ireland was something of a masterclass in maintaining possession as he set a new record in passing. Against Croatia that may prove to be a tough milestone to reach again, but if the Barcelona man can keep things ticking in similar fashion, then La Roja should be able to celebrate a place in the last eight as group winners.

Croatia vs Spain Probable Line Up:
Croatia: Pletikosa, Srna, Corluka, Schildenfeld, Strinic, Vukojevic, Rakitic, Mandzukic, Modric, Perisic, Jelavic
Spain: Casillas, Arbeloa, Ramos, Pique, Alba, Busquets, Alonso, Silva, Xavi, Iniesta, Torres

Croatia vs Spain Prediction: Although any draw will send Spain through, and a 2-2 tie or higher is good enough for both sides, don't expect either of them to hold back on going for all three points. In the end, the superior quality of Iker Casillas & Co. should tell against a Croatian defence that has not looked all that secure in the first two matches. (Goal)

Cesare Prandelli: "(Balotelli) is a guy of 22 years of age, he is on the road to finding maturity. What I ask is for him to play simply. To help the team and to stretch the play behind the opposition defence. When he makes a mistake he must think that there will be other opportunities...and find the conviction to make the right decision next time. The thing to underline is that he won the ball himself (before missing a chance against Spain). When you have two choices it slows you down."(Yahoo)
Italy's key player: Daniele De Rossi. The 28-year-old was impeccable in denying the striker-less Spain opportunities in Gdansk, but once a true forward was on the pitch in Fernando Torres, the midfielder-turned-defender had a couple of lapses. He will need to be able to deal with the threat of a target man more completely on Thursday, whether it be Jelavic, Mandzukic or both.

Daniele De Rossi
Croatia's Player to Watch: Luka ModricThe Tottenham playmaker made Giovanni Trapattoni's side pay for giving him too much space on numerous occasions just a few days ago, but his ability to effect the game under more pressure from a five-man opposition midfield will be paramount to his country's success as they look to make it six point from six in Group C.

Italy vs Croatia Probable Line Up:
Italy: Buffon, Bonucci, De Rossi, Chiellini, Maggio, T. Motta, Pirlo, Marchisio, G'rini, Balotelli, Cassano
Croatia: Pletikosa, Srna, Corluka, Schildenfeld, Strinic, Rakitic, Vukojevic, Modric, Perisic, Jelavic, Mandzukic

Italy vs Croatia Euro 2012 Prediction
Croatia were given too much room in midfield against Ireland, and thus found it very easy to dictate play and come away with a straight-forward victory. The same thing is unlikely to occur against an improving Italy side despite their positive record against the Azzurri in the past and Prandelli's side should be able to come away with three points if they take their chances in Poznan.(Goal.com)

Giovanni Trapattoni: "I am proud to be the manager of the Irish players because the Irish players have heart. But we have achieved results not only with heart because we have met France, Bulgaria, Italy, many other teams and we played the same. We play our football. It's creative enough and it's technical enough. Maybe Spain have one or two more creative players, but football is not only about creative players. Today, football is about balance on the pitch and strength with attitude and also luck. We have attitude, mentality, commitment, technical ability. We don't make bets, but I think we can win. Why not?"(Yahoo)
Spain's key player: Andrés Iniesta Luján. Spain's most impressive player in the last match and the man who looked most likely to cause the Italian defence problems. Expect Iniesta to drift into pockets of space in front of the Ireland defence and be a massive danger with the ball at this feet.

Andres Iniesta
Ireland's Player to Watch: Robbie KeaneIreland's talisman may be getting on in years now but he will need to come out of his shell if he is pose a threat to Spain. Keane was ineffective against Croatia so he must aim to provide more movement in the box and link up better with strike partner, Kevin Doyle.

Spain vs Ireland Probable Line Up:
Spain: Casillas, Arbeloa, Ramos, Pique, Alba, Busquets, Xabi Alonso Silva, Xavi, Iniesta, Torres
Ireland: Given, O'Shea, Dunne, St Ledger, Ward, Duff, Andrews, Whelan, McGeady, Keane, Long

Spain vs Ireland Euro 2012 Prediction
Spain go into this match as massive favourites to take three points and Ireland will make it all too easy if they defend in the same manner as they did against Croatia. The high tempo movement in the penalty area by the Spain attackers will prove too much for the Irish so expect a comfortable victory for Vicente Del Bosque's side. Giovanni Trapattoni's rigid formation and the likely negative play from the Republic of Ireland are probably the only factors that will keep the score respectable. (Goal.com)

Giovanni Trapattoni: "I think about what I'm going to eat tonight, not what I'll eat in three days. It's like the eve of the final match of the championship. Everyone is expecting victory and I'm thinking about mistakes that could lead to non-victory. That's my only, but great, worry. In Italy, we have a simple phrase: 'the ball is round.' With a little bit of fantasy, and sometimes a small mistake, it makes us believe in little things."
Shay Given (Ireland vs Croatia Euro 2012)
Ireland's Player to Watch: Shay Given. The 36-year-old had been sturggling with injury but is reportedly ready for his side's opener in the tournament. A goalkeeper of vast experience and superb shot-stopping ability, Given will be crucial to his side's chances of getting off to a good start in the tournament against a technically gifted Croatia team.

Croatia's Player to Watch: Nikica Jelavic. Stepping into the shoes of Olic is Everton hitman Jelavic, who will be looking to transfer the form he showed with Rangers and Everton over the last two years (39 goals in 58 games) to the international stage. If the striker can play to his potential, he will cause any defence he comes up against plenty of problems.

Ireland vs Croatia Probable Line Up:
Ireland: Given O'Shea, Dunne, St Ledger, Ward Duff, Whelan, Andrews, McGeady Long, Keane
Croatia: Pletikosa Corluka, Schildenfeld, Simunic, Strinic Srna, Modric, Rakitic, Pranjic Mandzukic, Jelavic

Cesare Prandelli: "Spain are very strong but we have beaten them and no team is invincible. I have a team with character, quality and willingness. They will probably have more possession and will cause us problems but when Italy play football as we know we can, we can fully challenge a team like Spain."
Spain's Player to Watch: Xavi Hernandez. Xavi is one of the best midfielder in the world. He is in same generation with Andrea Pirlo of Azzuri. The Barcelona star is considered one of football's playmaking masters, but he'll be facing a worthy foe in Andrea Pirlo on Sunday. The 32-year-old will aim to dictate the tempo of the match better than his opposition at the heart of the midfield if he succeeds then his side should be set for a victory.
Xavi (Spain vs Italy Euro 2012)
Italy's Player to Watch: Giorgio Chiellini. Chiellini is Juventus centre-back. Although renowned for their defence, Italy showed plenty of defensive fragility during the recent 3-0 friendly loss to Russia. The return of the Juventus centre-back should add some much-needed stability to the defence, whether it be four men at the back or just three.

Spain vs Italy Probable Line Up:
Spain: Casillas Arbeloa, Ramos, Pique, Alba Xabi Alonso, Busquets Silva, Xavi, Iniesta Torres
